Saturday, 11 January 2000 will not go down as a red-letter day for Presteigne St Andrews FC as both sides were beaten in their respective matches.
The first team went down 5-0 at home to Forden United in their MMP with Norman Lloyd second-division game.
Forden arrived with a pretty solid away record in this, their first season in the league and they further enhanced that with what was ultimately a comfortable victory.
It’s ‘as you were’ at the foot of the second division table in that Knighton Town went down 5-0 in their game at Penparcau and so Alan Stocker’s side maintains it’s six-point advantage over the Bryn-y-Castell side.
The Reserves fared little better in their Mid Wales League (South) fixture as they went down 2-0 at fellow strugglers, Felindre.
This meant it was ‘moving day’ at the foot of the table as the Reserves were leap-frogged by Felindre and so are now second-bottom of the division.
They are currently two points clear of bottom side St Harmon who went down 3-0 in their derby at home to Rhayader Town Reserves.
After struggling for much of the season, Rhayader’s second string have now found a bit of form with back-to-back wins in which they haven’t conceded a goal.
So, clearly, work to be done by both of our sides and here’s hoping they can have a more productive second half to their respective seasons.
