CP Llanandras are off and running

A point on the road for CP Llanandras

Congratulations to CP Llanandras who have their first league point of the Mid Wales League (South) season after a battling performance at Hay St Mary’s Reserves on Saturday, 15 January.

Bryn Roberts’ side led one-nil at half-time but, in the end, they had to settle for a point after the home side came up with a second-half equaliser as the game finished one-all.

This was reportedly a fine all-round team performance but special mention was made of Sezer who was back between the sticks for CP Llanandras in this one and who was a serious contender for man of the match.

The heavy pitch made for tough going in the closing stages of the match, but the CP squad dug in and held on for the draw.

Congratulations to all the players and the management team for their efforts – no doubt they will collectively be delighted to have broken their duck and here’s hoping they can go on and build on that in the coming weeks.

There was a further positive to come out of this game in that the referee apparently reported that CP Llanandras had “been a pleasure to ref’.

Sadly, there was no game for Presteigne St Andrews FC who travelled down to Brecon only for the game to then be called off.

But the Presteigne officials felt the referee had made the right call as one half of the Brecon pitch was frozen and player safety has to come first.
