First team to face Builth in friendly

Presteigne St Andrews FC are to take on Builth Wells in a friendly match at Llanandras Park on Tuesday 1 February (kick off 7.30pm).

With so many matches called off in recent times both clubs are keen to get in some match practice and first-team boss Barry Williams was more than happy to agree to the game when suggested by his Builth counterpart Jason Samuel.

Club chairman Alan Randell says the game will depend on the weather but he shares Barry’s view that it would be good for the squad to get a game under its belts.

“It has been a stop-start season and so the lads will benefit from playing a game before they take on Llanrhaeadr in the league at the weekend,” he said.

“Barry is planning on fielding something of a mixed team – the lads who are away at university won’t figure but it will be a good work out for them.

“From what I gather Builth are planning on doing the same thing so it should be an even contest.

“We are not going to play them again in the league this season so if we want a practice match this is a good fixture for both sides,” he added.

While there will be formal admission charge for Tuesday evening’s match it is hoped to do a collection to help offset the costs of staging the match – anyone who can volunteer to help the committee by taking the collection should contact Alan Randell as soon as possible.
