Knighton Town win Otway Cup

Presteigne St Andrews FC
Llanandras Park hosted a feast of football on Sunday

Knighton Town produced a fine comeback performance to win the Presteigne Otway Cup in an entertaining final at Llanandras Park.

Llandrindod Wells probably went into the final as slight favourites purely on their league form and for much of the early stages of the match it appeared as though they would live up to the billing.

The Broadway-based side opened up a 2-o lead and looked as though they were going to ease to a comfortable victory but Knighton had different ideas.

they hit back to square the game at 2-2 and then completed the comeback when former Presteigne player Danny Ives netted what proved to be the winner with 10 minutes remaining.

There will be a more detailed report up on the site as soon as I glean a bit more information and – hopefully – a photo or two so, if you took a photo at the final, then please email it to me by clicking here and I might well use it in the report.

Also to come over the next few days, a report on the dinner and awards night, plus a few thoughts on the Under 18s football festival that also took place at Llanandras Park on Sunday, 20 May.
