Otway Cup Final on Sunday

Presteigne St Andrews FC
There should be no shortage of entertainment for local football fans this Sunday

Sunday, 19 May will see the Presteigne Otway Cup final take place at Llanandras Park in which Knighton Town will take on Llandrindod Wells.

The game was originally scheduled for Sunday, 29 April, but you might remember it was never going to be played that day as there was a monsoon of biblical proportions that led to the game being called off very early on that morning.

So, we will try again this Sunday on a day that will also feature a three-team Under 18s’ tournament for the Edwin Traylor Cup.

This will involve teams from the home club, Presteigne St Andrews as well as Llandrindod Wells and our visitors from Ligne.

As for the Otway Cup final, well, Knighton Town qualified after they beat host club Presteigne St Andrews in the semi-final tie while Llandrindod Wells saw off  Talgarth Town 1-0 in the first round before receiving a bye through their semi-final tie after Newbridge withdrew from the competition.

Llandrindod will probably go into the final as favourites although this is based solely on the two clubs’ respective league positions.

Tony Wood and Phil Randell will be the joint-sponsors of the Otway Cup final and the club would like to thank them very much for supporting the club in this way, while Trevor Owens will provide the bottle of champagne for the Man of the Match Award.

The kick off at Llanandras Park on Sunday will be at 2.30pm and admission prices for the game will be: £3.00 for adults, £2.00 for senior citizens and £1.00 for youngsters under the age of 16.
