Presteigne St Andrews FC’s general manager Trevor Gummer has been hard at work sorting out the pre-season programme of games for both the first-team squad and the Reserves.
The proposed list has an interesting mix of games and comes after Trev has consulted with manager Adriano Girolami as to the timing of games and the sort of level of opponents he is looking for.
The first training session was yesterday (Sunday, 1 July) when a decent turn out of players turned out for a training session and practice match at Llanandras Park
There are some good games in there, with the prospect of visits from teams from Westfields, Hinton and Berriew among the matches lined up so far.
As someone far more clever than me once wrote, there is ‘many a slip between cup and lip’, but these games have been confirmed, while we are still awaiting final confirmation of away trips to Penrhyncoch and Builth Wells.
At the moment, the balance of games is very much in favour of first-team matches as opposed to Reserve fixtures, but Trevor points out that many clubs whom Bobby Morgan and his squad would envisage taking on have not even yet thought about sorting out their pre-season programmes.
He is keen to add in more Reserve games and details of these will be published on the site as soon they come to fruition.
