Website stat attack

Presteigne St Andrews FCI am not normally one for digesting too many statistics and then regurgitating them – anyone who has ever heard one of my sports commentaries will know that!

But occasionally I glance through the club’s website figures just to see how we are shaping up in terms of visits to the site, and how various pages do when compared to others etc.

Common sense would tell you that if a football club website were to have a record month of visits, then it would be likely this would be in, say, April or May, when Championships and cup finals are being decided.

If you had to pick a least likely month to break that record, then it would probably be June – there is no football and, after all, there are only so many times you can read stories like: ‘Grass growing on the pitch’, ‘Paint drying on dressing room walls’ or ‘Doris Sproggins won £30.00 in the 100 Club Draw’.

But I can report that – in website terms – all common sense has officially gone out of the window.

June 2012 saw the website record 6,080 visits – almost 1,100 more than our previous best-ever month which was August 2011.

A bit more in-depth research shows that – for some reason – we were very big in China in that month, with 2,857 visits to the site from the People’s Republic.

But the general trend was up – 1,605 hits from Great Britain was, in itself, a rise on previous months.

A few other figures to finish with – since the site was launched in August 2009, we have had 130,708 visitors who have looked at a total of 274,436 pages – so, the pressure is on to iron out the spelling mistakes!
