Groundhoppers Day is here!

Presteigne St Andrews FC
A large crowd is expected at Llanandras Park for Groundhoppers Day

After weeks of preparation, a shed-load of hard work by a sizeable number of committee members and others, and not an insignificant number of sleepless nights for the chairman, Groundhoppers Day has arrived.

Our thanks in advance to all of those who put in so much work beforehand – most people attending will have no idea of the extra strain this has put on the system, but hopefully it will all prove worthwhile and we look forward to welcoming the Groundhoppers to Llanandras Park.

In the middle of all of this, a football match is going to break out and we look forward to welcoming Rhosgoch Rangers for what is our opening league match of the new Spar Mid Wales, second division season.

Manager Adriano Girolami has been working hard throughout the summer to pull together a competitive squad for the coming campaign and, while a few players are unavailable today due to a long-standing commitment, he is confident that, in time, the results will come.

Please take note of the following arrangements and additional information with respect to today’s game.

The postcode for Llanandras Park is LD8 2LB. While we anticipate most of the Groundhoppers will arrive by coach, for those travelling by car, stick that in your sat nav and you won’t be too far away, but see note below regarding car parking. You will need to allow yourself an extra 10 minutes for the walk to the ground.

Kick Off against Rhosgoch Rangers will be at 4.30pm.  If you turn up at 2.30pm,  you are going to have a long wait..

Admission will be £3.00 for all adults and £1.00 for youngsters under the age of 16 – no ifs, no buts – that is the rate set by the Groundhoppers.

Car Parking for general match-goers will not be available at the ground, but you can use the John Beddoes School playground and the East Radnor Leisure Centre car parking area.  The only groups who can park at the ground are: officials, disabled spectators, the Groundhoppers coach and players.

Please be considerate regarding residents of Clatterbrune Estate and preferably don’t park there at all but certainly don’t park in front of their driveways etc.   Presteigne St Andrews FC has a very good relationship with the local residents and we depend on their cooperation so please don’t jeopardise this in any way.

Our best wishes to the Groundhoppers for the remainder of their weekend – as we say, we hope you enjoy your brief stay at Llanandras Park and the rest of your whistle-stop tour around mid-Wales.

Then, after all that, it will be on to the Fun Day and Beer Festival tomorrow – more on that later in the day.
