Beer Festival and Fun Day on Sunday

Presteigne St Andrews FCAfter the success of the event last year, Presteigne St Andrews FC is again to hold its Beer Festival and Fun Day at Llanandras Park – and it will all unfold in front of your very eyes tomorrow!

This year’s event is to be held on Sunday, 26 August and will form part of what is promising to be a very busy weekend at the club.

Committee members and others have been flat out this week preparing for the visit of the Groundhoppers who were treated to a 10-goal thriller as Presteigne St Andrews battled out a 5-5 draw against Rhosgoch Rangers.

But the Sunday is all about the Beer Festival and Fun Day when the gates will open at 1.30pm.

There will be junior football matches on the pitch from 2.00pm while, later in the afternoon, some of the club’s former stars will be doing their best to roll back the years in the Over 40s match – that one is due to kick off at 4.00pm.

There will be a host of trade stands on view, while there will be various forms of entertainment including the Duck Drop where up to 5oo plastic ducks will be dropped out of the bucket of a large agricultural front-end loader.

If you are reading this from afar yes, this is what we do for entertainment in Mid Wales(!)  However, there will be loads of other stuff going on.

Uppermost among this will be a wide range of beers and ciders which will need sampling – I know, it is a tough job, but we feel you are just the kind of people to rise to that particular challenge…

In the evening, there will be live music from 6.00pm when among the bands due to play will be The Lone Wolves, The Flok and The Stalkers.
