Glantraeth next in the Welsh Cup

Presteigne St Andrews FCThe draw has been made for the second qualifying round of the Welsh Cup and, after years where Presteigne St Andrews FC always seemed to be drawn away from home, we now have a second successive home draw.

The reward for the win over Kerry in the last round is a home tie against Glantraeth which is due to be played on Saturday, 8 September.

This is promising to be a very tough tie as the Anglesey-based club plays in the Welsh Alliance, division one where they have made a steady start to their season.

They have won three and lost two of their league matches so far, including a 7-1 thrashing of Glan
Conwy, while they gave a good account of themselves in their latest match against the former Welsh Premier club Caernarfon Town.

With around 500 people watching, Glantraeth gave a good account of themselves but were undone
by two goals in little over a minute as they went down 4-2.

This could well prove a very stiff test for Adriano’s side but Glantraeth will have a long trip south for this one – probably the longest trip they could have been handed in the northern half of the draw, so it’s important we take full advantage of this factor.

A more detailed preview of the game will appear on the site nearer the time, but if you fancy taking
a look at Glantraeth’s website, then you can do so by clicking here.
