Llanidloes Town are due at Llanandras Park tonight

Presteigne St Andrews FC will tonight host Llanidloes Town in their rearranged Spar Mid Wales League Cup, first-round tie.

This game was originally due to be played last Saturday but was one of seven matches called off due to the adverse weather conditions.

As I write this, I have just seen the television weather forecast for later in the day which left me thinking: ‘I am not holding my breath for tonight, either’, but I should stress that, as things stand, the game is very much ON.

However if, as predicted, the heavens do open later in the afternoon, then club chairman Alan Randell and groundsman Tracy Hammond will no doubt venture out into ‘the deep end’ to take a look at conditions.

Llanidloes Town will clearly want a reasonably early call with regards to this game given the distances they have to travel, so check back here later in the day – but no news will be good news.

There is a contingency plan in place that if the game were to be called off this evening, then the idea would be to play it tomorrow night – Thursday, 20 December – when the kick off would be at 7.30pm, but having seen the forecast for tomorrow that, too, would be subject to a check on the ‘going’.

But, just to reiterate, it is ‘game ON’ at the moment – please check back here later in the day for further updates.
