Derby day at Llanandras Park on Boxing Day

Well, the fixture many have been waiting for is now just around the corner in which Presteigne St Andrews FC will host old rivals Knighton Town on Boxing Day.

Knighton will arrive at Llanandras Park in a good vein of form that has seen them move into the top half of the Spar Mid Wales League, second division table.

This comes after they had a slow start to the season in which they were found languishing near the foot of the division, although to be fair they were behind on the number of games played in the early stages of the season.

There will no shortage of former Presteigne players in the Knighton Town squad, including our former player-manager Adriano Girolami who has moved to Bryn-y-Castell following his departure from Llanandras Park earlier in the season.

Clearly, the weather will be something of a concern as the heavy rain of today – Saturday, 22 December – will hardly have helped, while there is more rain forecast for Christmas Eve.

We will keep you updated on any developments on that front but hopefully it will be ‘game on’ at Llanandras Park on Boxing Day and we get to see a good game of football.

Assuming the game goes ahead, the kick off will be at 2.30pm and admission prices will be the usual ones for a first-team game – £2.50 for adults, £1.50 for senior citizens and £1.00 for youngsters under the age of 16.
