Under 18s bow out of the Giantkillers Cup

Presteigne St Andrews Under 18s bowed out of the Giantkillers Cup on Thursday, 28 February when they went down 2-0 at Pegasus Juniors.

This game had been called off at least four times and the Under 18s’ preparations had hardly been the finest as they had had their previous 10 matches postponed.

They were last in action as a team in November when their home match against Fownhope was abandoned due to a lack of match officials.

Prior to that, the last game they had actually completed had been the 5-2 defeat at Bartestree on 7 November, so Roy Simcock’s side could be forgiven for being a bit rusty going into this one.

I have few details other than the actual result, but suffice to say that effectively ends the Under 18s’ competitive season as the HFA Floodlit Youth League has been abandoned due to the severe fixture backlog caused by the poor weather.

There might yet be a few friendly games, but these are yet to be confirmed.
