Presteigne St Andrews Under 18s were beaten 6-1 in their HFA Floodlit Youth League match at Pegasus Juniors, although there were some mitigating circumstances for manager Trevor Gummer and his squad.

Presteigne eventually travelled with only 12 players after three of the original squad cried off in the hours leading up to the game.

On top of this, Liam Charles played the whole 90 minutes despite feeling distinctly under the weather in the run up to kick off.

Despite creating around 10 chances of their own in the first half, Presteigne were 4-1 down at the interval as they were repeatedly hit on the break by a Pegasus side that was far more clinical in front of goal.

Nick Evans marked his return to action from injury with Presteigne’s goal when he rounded off a fine move involving Josh Watson and Liam Charles.

The second half was essentially a midfield battle with Pegasus netting twice more although Trevor felt his side had played its part in the game with Connor Bird having an outstanding game in midfield.

There is a more detailed match report on the match on the Under 18s page of the website, while previews of the weekend fixtures for the first team, reserves and CP Llanandras will appear at some stage tomorrow.
