Cup action at Llanandras Park tonight

Presteigne Reserves will aim to make it through to their second cup final in a week tonight [Wednesday, 24 April] when they will host Brecon Town in their Alfred Sparey Cup semi-final at Llanandras Park.

Mark Weiland’s side was in good form last time out when they booked their place in the Builth Spa Cup final with a comprehensive 6-0 win over Llandrindod Wells Reserves at Lant Field.

Brecon Town come to Llanandras Park with a very similar record to that of the Reserves in this season’s Mid Wales League (South).

Tonight’s visitors are one place and two points better off in the table than ‘Weedo’s’ side, but Brecon have played one more game than the Reseves.

On the face of it, then, little to choose between the sides as they prepare for this one and the right to take on either Knighton Town Reserves or Builth Wells Reserves in the final on Sunday, 5 May.

The cup secretary (me) would like to place on record my thanks to ‘Weedo’, Brecon’s Richard Spiers and Alan and Paula Randell for the work they have put in to ensure this game goes ahead this evening – it has been a logistical nightmare, but we have got there in the end.

Tonight’s game is due to kick off at 7.30pm and admission will be as for Reserve games – so, £2.00 for adults and £1.00 for senior citizens and youngsters under the age of 16.

The second semi-final will be played on Tuesday, 30 April when the kick off will again be at 7.30pm.  Again, my thanks to Kevin Claridge at Builth Reserves and Gary Cooper at Knighton for their cooperation in finding a mutually convenient date.
