First pre-season defeat for the first team

Presteigne St Andrews FC went down 3-1 in their latest pre-season match which was at Baretestree on Wednesday, 31 July.

Early reports suggest that Danny Williams’ side was right in the game in the first half and that this was a very good work out for both sides.

I am told that Christian Roberts was the Presteigne goalscorer – if it wasn’t Christian, then no doubt someone will let me know and I will amend things accordingly.

But in the second period, a very young and fit Bartestree side eventually came through and ultimately deserved their win, although there was some debate as to whether they were good value for the two-goal margin.

One thing was for sure, there were a number of players in the Bartestree squad who looked as though they were more than capable of going on to play at a higher level.

Overall, this was another worthwhile experience for the first team as it was good competitive game time under the players’ belts.

Danny Williams side will be back in action on Friday evening [2 August] when they will face another Herefordshire side when Leominster Town will come to Llanandras Park for a 7.30pm kick off.

There will then be a game against Llandrindod Wells on Tuesday, 6 August when the kick off will be at 7.00pm.
