Presteigne St Andrews FC’s Under 18s’ HFA Floodlit Youth League against Wellington which was scheduled for this evening [Thursday, 3 October] has been postponed.

As mentioned in the post earlier today, there was always a chance that the predicted heavy rain would impact on the game and this has proved to be the case.

There is a first-team game scheduled for the ground tomorrow evening, so this was no doubt a factor, but it is clear that the rainfall of Thursday afternoon was the key issue as the pitch was deemed unplayable by late afternoon.

Those making the decision had to make a reasonably early call as Wellington and the match officials had to be given fair notice.

Frustrating again, then, for Roy Simcock and his side who endured a stop-start campaign last year and who must be seriously hoping this season doesn’t go down the same route.

Given there are only five clubs in the HFA Floodlit Youth League this season, at least rearranging the games shouldn’t present too many issues for those concerned.

The Under 18s will now next be in action on Monday, 14 October when they will head to Wellington for what was initially going to be the return fixture, but which will now be the first meeting between the sides this season.
