First team off to Hay – 2.15 kick off

Presteigne St Andrews FC
Hay St Mary's will receive a bye through to the final
Presteigne St Andrews FC
Hay are the current Otway Cup holders

Presteigne St Andrews FC they will head to Forest Road on Saturday, 23 November for a match against Hay St Marys.

This game marks a return to league action after a mid-season break for the ER Jenkins Cup and no doubt manager Danny Williams will be looking to his side to set the right tone in this one as they face a tough couple of weeks.

Hay St Marys are clearly a very decent side in their own right – after all, Presteigne St Andrews were beaten 3-1 there in the ER Jenkins Cup fixture less than a month ago.

But the general view was that Presteigne didn’t turn up for the first half of that one by which time the game had gone.

With the Hay game this week, and then a home match against Rhosgoch Rangers next Saturday, it is clearly an important phase of the season for the first team.

Hay are currently three points and one place better off than Danny’s side and in third place in the table, although Presteigne do have a game in hand.

It has hard to believe that we have reached 23 November and yet this will be only the fifth Spar Mid Wales League match the first team has played.

Danny Williams has moved to strengthen his attacking options with the signing of Chris Jones who returns to Llanandras Park after a spell with Builth Wells.

Please note: if you are heading to Hay to watch the first team game, then it will be a 2.15 kick off.

This is because the game is being played on the lower pitch at Forest Road and they don’t have lights on that pitch, so don’t turn up late!

It is hoped to have an outline report up online at some stage on Saturday evening assuming I can track down someone in the know.

After their ‘European trip’ to north Pembrokeshire last weekend, the Reserves don’t have a match this Saturday, but they will no doubt be keeping an eye on the Dewi Stars-Machynlleth Reserves Emrys Morgan Cup tie which is due to be played on Saturday.

Mark Weiland’s side faces a trip to the winners of that tie in round three of the competition.
