It wasn’t such a happy Christmas for Presteigne St Andrews FC and their followers as the first team was well beaten in the east Radnorshire derby at Knighton Town.

All the indications are that we can have no complaints at all – those with whom I have spoken tell me that Knighton clearly wanted it more than our squad did on the day.

The home side took the lead after around five minutes and then went on to double their lead midway through the second half.

The win takes Knighton to within two points of the Spar Mid Wales League, second division leaders Rhosgoch Rangers, but they have played to more matches than the Crows.

The news didn’t get any better after the match as I am informed three members of the first-team squad have decided their futures lie elsewhere.

Brian Dyer and Joe Mayglothling have opted to head back across the border to Kington Town, while Adam Farmer is reportedly to join Knighton Town.

While the club is sorry to see them leave, we thank them for their efforts over the season to date.
