Heavy rain could lead to a pitch inspection

Well, it’s not quite that bad, but clearly the predicted weather for tonight [Thursday, 2 January] could have an impact on the Central Wales Cup tie against Llandrindod Wells which is due to take place on Friday, 3 January.

As things stand, the game is still ON, but it is only fair to warn everyone that, if the weather is as bad as predicted, then there would have to be some doubt as to the game going ahead.

The problem is that – as with everywhere else – any further heavy rain overnight would be falling on already saturated ground and so it has nowhere to go.

While I haven’t been down to the ground myself, club chairman Alan Randell has told me he is monitoring the situation and will advise me at some stage tomorrow.

Of course, we could miss the worst of the weather, but the latest predictions would suggest we are going to get our fair share of the soft refreshing between now and Friday evening – if you want to take a look at the predictions click here for a useful link to a usually reliable site.

This would seem a good time to mention the hard work put in by groundsman Tracy Hammond and his team of helpers in ensuring the pitch is in as good a shape as possible – often against the odds.

Just to reiterate – as things stand, the game is still ON, but please be aware that this might well be reviewed if it empties down overnight.
