A disappointing end to the season for the Under 18s

Presteigne St Andrews FC’s Under 18s missed out on the chance to round off the season by winning a trophy when they were beaten 3-0 by visiting Wellington in the Edwin Traylor Cup final at Llanandras Park on Thursday, 8 May.

This game doubled up as the final league fixture of the season in the HFA Floodlit Youth League and so the result also meant that Roy Simcock’s side missed out on the chance to finish third in the five-strong division.

Wellington took the lead in this one after around 25 minutes but that was to be the only goal of the first half.

But the Herefordshire side put the outcome beyond doubt with two goals in pretty rapid order just after the hour-mark and there was to be no way back for Presteigne from there.

Manager Roy Simcock admitted it had been a frustrating evening but had few complaints about the eventual outcome of the game.
