Another cup win for the Reserves

Congratulations to Mark Weiland and his Reserves who added the Builth Spa Cup to their trophy list for the current season when they beat the home side 1-0 in the final at Lant Field on Saturday, 17 May.

Spencer Napolitano scored the only goal of the game in the second half of a match in which the Reserves also had Danny Evans sent off by referee Rob Evans for a second yellow card offence when he stood over a Builth free kick they were looking to take quickly.

But credit to the Ressies, despite this setback they stood firm and held on for the win – another piece of silverware, then, to put on the top table for the dinner at the end of the month.

This cup will go nicely alongside the Radnor Valley Cup the Reserves won last week – a good effort by the Reserves who have finished the season strongly.

A third-place finish in the Mid Wales League (South) table, two cup wins and a last-four appearance in the J Emrys Morgan Cup was a pretty healthy return for what was an encouraging season for ‘Weedo’ and his team.

There will be a more detailed report on the Builth Spa Cup win in the next day or so.
