First team have Wednesday-night date at Penybont

Presteigne St Andrews FC

Presteigne St Andrews FCPresteigne St Andrews FC will play their second match of the new Spar Mid Wales League, second division season when they will head to Penybont on Wednesday, 20 August.

Presteigne go into the game with a point on the board after their opening-day 2-2 draw with Builth Wells at Llanandras Park

Penybont were promoted to the Spar Mid Wales League at the end of last season and their first match at the new level proved something of a baptism of fire as they slipped to a home defeat.

Abermule left the Racecourse with all three points after a 5-2 success on Saturday and so it's a fair bet that Penybont will be smarting a little from that experience.

This could make them all the more dangerous as opponents in this one as they will be keen to put points on the board at the first available opportunity.

Individual mistakes cost Presteigne dear on Saturday and Tom Ammonds knows they will have to cut these out if they are to pick up their first win of the season at the Racecourse.

"We missed a penalty after half an hour [against Builth] when Danny Evans had a chance from the spot after Liam Fletcher was fouled," said Tom.

"Then our on errors meant we were 2-0 down, but fortunately we got ourselves back into it just before half-time when Ieuan Crowe netted after a long ball was flicked on by Christian Roberts.

"The second half was very even and we managed to grab the equaliser with five minutes to go when a long throw from Spencer Napolitano was inadvertently headed into his own net by a Builth defender," he added.

Penybont against Presteigne St Andrews is due to kick off at 6.30pm on Wednesday, 20 August.
