Mixed fortunes for first team and Reserves

A tough day on the road

No shortage of goals this weekend

After being on the wrong end of a couple of serious hidings in the last couple of month, it was good to see the first team handing out something similar in their Spar Mid Wales League, second division game at home to Newbridge.

Jamie Allen’s side ran out 7-1 winners in the game at Llanandras Park on Saturday, 14 February.

Jack Brazier led the way for Presteigne as he bagged a hat-trick, while Callum Matthews scored twice with Shaun Prince and Ioan Hughes also on target

Well done to the first team – this was a good way to bounce back after the disappointments of the Otway Cup semi-final in the week.

The Reserves were always likely to be up against it in their Mid Wales League (South) derby game at Radnor Valley and this one went with the form book.

Radnor Valley have serious aspirations to play at Spar Mid Wales League level next season and they ran out 6-3 winners over Mark Weiland’s side in this one.

This looked as though it could all go horribly wrong as the home side opened out a 6-0 lead, but two goals from Kieran Lusher and one from Gareth Bull did add a veneer of respectability to proceedings.

So, well done to the first team and commiserations to the Reserves – another typically mixed and goal-filled weekend for Presteigne St Andrews, but refreshing that the majority of the 17 goals in the two games were in our favour!
