First team to round things off at ‘Banw’

November will be a busy month for the first team

Let’s end it with three points

Presteigne St Andrews FC will round off their Spar Mid Wales League, second-division programme on Saturday, 25 April.

Jamie Allen will take his side to Dyffryn Banw for this final fling and he will be keen for the boys to end on a high note.

Overall it has been a disappointing season for the first team and one thing Jamie will certainly be looking for next season is greater commitment from some squad members so he can play a more settled side.

When they have fielded a first-choice team they have produced some great results – think back to the League Cup win over a Rhosgoch Rangers side that was flying at the time – but there have also been a lot of frustrations along the way.

To paraphrase Basil Fawlty: ‘Don’t mention the Boxing Day game against Knighton – I mentioned it once, but I think I got away with it!’

As for Dyffryn Banw, they are only one place above us in the league table but they are five points better off, so even a Presteigne win in this one is not going to have any lasting impact on the overall standings.

But fair play to the first-team squad – and it has been a squad – as they have stuck with it and here’s hoping they come back next season strong for the experience.

The kick off in this one will be at 2.30pm and it’s hoped to have the result of the game and at least some kind of outline report up online on Saturday evening.
