It’s another Wednesday night under the lights for the first team

Presteigne St Andrews FC will return to Spar Mid Wales League, second-division action on Wednesday, 26 August.

They will welcome Bont FC to Llanandras Park for a match in which both sides could really do with a win.

Presteigne’s solitary success came a week ago when they saw off Abermule by the odd goal in seven under the lights at Llanandras Park.

As for Bont, their season hasn’t started too well with back-to-back home defeats.

They were beaten 3-0 on their own patch by Borth United in their opening game of the season, while league newcomers Bettws also headed home with all three points after they won 5-2 in their game at Bont.

But, to put those results in some kind of early-season context, Bettws are top of the table with three wins and two draws from their opening five games, while Borth United have won all three of their matches.

But, there is no doubt that both managers will be viewing this as – to use the old hackneyed footballing cliche – a winnable game.

The kick off at Llanandras Park for this one will be at 7.30pm and the admission prices will be the usual £2.50 for adults; £1.50 for senior citizens and £1.00 for youngsters under the age of 16.
