Disappointing at Radnor, but Newbridge are up next

Presteigne St Andrews FC were beaten 2-0 in their Spar Mid Wales League second-division derby game at Radnor Valley on Monday, 28 December.

Work commitments mean I am yet to receive the usual detailed report from manager Mark Weiland, but Tom Ammonds gave me this brief synopsis (good word) of what went on in this one.

“We started slowly and two mistakes cost us with Joey Price and Callum Matthews scoring the goals for Radnor,” said Tom.

“To be honest, we had plenty of chances but we were unable to finish them off.

“But, having said that, so did Radnor but if we keep giving away goals then it is always going to prove difficult,” he added.

I will add in any further thoughts from ‘Weedo’ as and when they appear but, as I say, some of us have to work over the Christmas break (not that I am bitter at all..!) and so it has taken a while longer than it might normally do.

January is looking like being a very big month for the side as there is no getting away from the fact the first team needs to start picking up wins.

Nobody knows that more than ‘Weedo’ himself and there is nothing he would like better than to put one on the board on Saturday, 2 January when they will host Newbridge at Llanandras Park.

There will be a more detailed preview of the game later in the week but, from the outset, Presteigne St Andrews FC would like to thank Liam Charles very much for his kind sponsorship of this match.

The kick off at Llanandras Park on Saturday will be at 2.30pm and let’s hope the first team can kick off the New Year in the best possible style.
