My thanks to Presteigne St Andrews FC’s chairman Andy Crowe for sending me a few thoughts and observations regarding the highly successful evening with Bruce Grobbelaar on Saturday, 12 November.
“A fantastic evening of stories and memories with a true football legend – Mr Bruce Grobbelaar was enjoyed by a full house last Saturday night,” said ‘Crowie’.
“Many thanks to all who bought tickets for the event while – as always behind the scenes was where the hard work went on with volunteers Phyl, Chris and Lizzie sorting the buffet.
“John, Haydn and Heidi were on great form with the draw and the bar while Tom Ammonds and the committee deserve a lot of credit for the organisation of the evening.
“Our thanks, too, go to Mike and George the Sunday-morning clear up – it is those kind of vital jobs that often go unnoticed by the majority of people.
“With Tom already planning our next guest – possibly in March – some of the money raised will be used on making that event a more enjoyable experience with a bespoke PA system and improved eco lighting.
“But the hard work continues with the fundraising and I would take this opportunity to remind you that our Football Christmas Draw tickets will be available early next week.”
