Penparcau are back on top of the Spar Mid Wales League

Penparcau were the main beneficiaries as four of the day’s six matches in the Spar Mid Wales League finished in draws.

Penparcau bounced back from last week’s disappointing 3-0 home defeat by Presteigne St Andrews to beat visiting Llansantffraid Village by three goals to one and so they go back to the top of the table, two points clear of Rhayader Town who were without a game.

Carno are level on points and on goal difference with Rhayader Town after they were held to a 1-1 draw by visiting Bow Street, while Aberystwyth Reserves could also pick up only a point when they drew 2-2 at Waterloo Rovers.

Tywyn Bryncrug’s 3-1 home victory over Presteigne St Andrews means they remain in sixth place but are now within five points of the leaders and with two games in hand.   Presteigne’s defeat leaves them 11 points off the pace.

There were two 0-0 draws – Newbridge’s recent revival continued when they took a point at home to Dyffryn Banw, while Hay St Marys and Llanrhaeadr also battled out a goal-less game.

In the Mid Wales League (South), the leaders Builth Wells pushed on at the top courtesy of their 10-0 (or it could have been 11-0 depending on which outlet you believe) win over CP Llanandras, while – as predicted in the preview – Rhosgoch found Newcastle a tricky proposition as they ended up all square at 1-1.

Llandrindod Wells and Talgarth Town both enjoyed good wins over Penybont sides to stay in touch – Llan’dod beat United 6-0 at home, while Talgarth came away from Athletic with a 5-0 victory.

Presteigne Reserves battled out a 0-0 draw with Talgarth Rovers while Knighton Town saw off visiting Hay St Marys Reserves 3-0 at Bryn-y-Castell.

Sennybridge arrested their recent slide in form with a 5-2 home win over struggling Llandrindod Wells Colts while Newbridge Reserves were 2-0 winners at bottom side St Harmon.
