A win and two draws….

Not a bad day’s work by our three sides as we went through the day unbeaten with a win and two draws so a decent enough return especially given two of the games were away from home.

The first team came away from the derby game at Newbridge with a 1-1 draw with Sam Williams the man on target for Tim Broome’s side.

There are not too many details emerging as yet (no doubt some reports are still being compiled in the bar of the Farmers…) but apparently two former Presteigne players – Adriano  Girolami and Danny Evans – were both injured.

As for the Reserves, well, their excellent form in Mid Wales League (South) continues after a 1-0 home win over Rhayader Town Reserves at Llanandras Park.

Given Rhayader’s first team was not in action today, the Reserves’ manager Barry Williams was understandably apprehensive about the strength of the Rhayader side, but his team was still too good as Steve Kay’s first-half goal secured all three points.

CP Llanandras used to be the team to watch for goals – if they were not scoring them, then there was the odd occasion on which they would ship them, but no more.

They came away from Newcastle with an excellent point from a 0-0 draw – their second successive goal-less encounter following last Sunday’s game at Sennybridge – and ‘Crowie’s’ side is now unbeaten in its last three league outings.
