Not looking promising for Boxing Day..

Another wintry week threatens the Boxing Day programme

…and that is not just at Llanandras Park, but the picture looks pretty general across the better part of Mid Wales ahead of what is generally one of the better-supported days of the year.

The whole of last weekend’s Spar Mid Wales League programme was lost to the snow and ice and the weather forecast suggests there is not much chance of things easing between now and the weekend.

Dolgellau report they have eight inches of snow on the pitch and it is rock hard underneath so they are not overly optimistic.

Locally, we are told it could get down to minus 8 or minus 10 overnight while it is not guaranteed to get above freezing in the middle of the day.

So, the odds on the game being on are looking pretty long at the moment and this will only add to the potential fixture congestion for later in the season although the first team are better off than some in that they have played more matches.

Similarly, it is not looking too promising for the Reserves’ Boxing-Day trip to Knighton Town all of which will add to manager Andy Crowe’s frustrations.

The Reserves have not kicked a ball in anger since they travelled to Bargod Rangers in the Emrys Morgan Cup on Saturday 13 November.

The first team played Builth Wells at home on the same day – that was the last time we played a Saturday home match although the Under 18s did play a midweek game on Monday 22 November.

So, if the worst happens and the Llanidloes game is called off, then we could easily go six or seven weeks without a game at Llanandras Park.
