It is with great sadness that Presteigne St Andrews FC reports the passing of Gwyn Jones who was well known to many members of the club over the year.
Gwyn will be well known to many as a former Vale of Arrow player – for the benefit of younger club members it is worth mentioning that ‘The Vale’ was the side to beat at Mid Wales League (South) level for many years.
More recently Gwyn was a familiar figure around Llanandras Park as his sons Liam and Adam both played for the club. I am grateful to George Lancett for reminding me that as well as a keen supporter, Gwyn was always happy to help out as a linesman when we were short.
While we were aware Gwyn had been very ill for some time, news of his death at St Michael’s Hospice on 16 December still came as a major shock to club members and our thoughts are with Jackie, Liam and Adam at this very sad time.
Gwyn’s funeral will take place at Gladestry church on Friday 24 December at 1.00pm.
