Friday night results and a busy week ahead

Presteigne St Andrews FC
It is going to be a very busy week at Llanandras Park

In addition to Presteigne St Andrews’ 3-2 home defeat by Aberystwyth University, there were two other games in the Spar Mid Wales League first division on Friday 25 March.

Leaders Berriew were held to a 2-2 draw by visiting Bow Street – a result that will have been welcomed in the Tanat Valley as Llanrhaeadr will see this as another boost to their title hopes.

Llanrhaeadr are third in the table, 13 points behind Berriew, but they do have the small matter of seven games in hand so will fancy their chances of catching the leaders.

Llanidloes Town are far from out of it, either – they last night beat visiting Dolgellau 1-0 to go second in the table – they are nine points behind Berriew, but have two games in hand.

Meanwhile, it is promising to be a very busy week at Llanandras Park with games on Monday, Wednesday, Saturday and then two matches on Sunday.

Radnor Valley have been in touch regarding the Penybont Cup quarter-final and it has been agreed to switch the game that was due to be played at School Lane to Llanandras Park – this will now be played on Wednesday 30 March when the kick off will be at 7.30pm.

So, the Under 18s will host Leominster Minors on Monday 28 (kick off 7,30pm), the Reserves will take on Radnor on the Wednesday evening while Andy Crowe’s side will then host Hay St Marys on Saturday 2 April in a Mid Wales League (South) match.

Sunday will see Talgarth Town take on Rhayader Town in an Otway Cup semi-final at 1.30pm, while Presteigne Reserves will meet either Builth Wells or Hay St Marys in a Sparey Cup semi-final at 4.30pm.

I can only assume Builth Reserves and Hay are due to play their outstanding quarter-final tie at some stage this week and, of course, were Hay to win in that one, then Andy Crowe’s side would hos the Forest Road side twice in as many days.

I hope you are following all of this… there will be questions later!
