Presteigne St Andrews Under 18s slipped to a 4-3 home defeat in Monday night’s HFA Floodlit Youth League match against Llandrindod Wells at Llanandras Park.
Presteigne found themselves a goal down in the first half but hit back to equalise within two minutes when Connor Bird scored from the penalty spot.
It was 1-1 at half-time, but Presteigne then went in front when Adam Farmer was on target with a header, but that was as good as it got for the home side.
Llandrindod were to enjoy something of a purple patch in which they scored three times in little over a quarter of an hour as they effectively took the game away from Presteigne.
Connor Bird netted his second goal of the night to give Presteigne a glimmer of hope heading into the closing stages, but Llandrindod were good enough to see the game out and so Trevor Gummer’s side slipped to another narrow, but high-scoring defeat.
There will be a more detailed report on the game up online at some stage on Tuesday 29 March just as soon as Trevor has emailed over the necessary information.
