First team lose out, but Reserves reach another cup final

Duane Anning was among the Reserves' goalscorers against Llan'dod Reserves

Presteigne St Andrews lost 2-0 in their Spar Mid Wales League first division match at Carno as they fell to a goal in each half.

If Presteigne are to avoid finishing bottom of the table now the equation is a simple one – they have to win their last two matches against Penparcau and Llanidloes Town at Llanandras Park, and also hope Dyffryn Banw draw a blank in their last four games.

The Reserves are through to the final of the Builth Spa Cup after a 3-2 extra time win over Llandrindod Wells Reserves at Llanandras Park this afternoon.

Andy Crowe’s side was 2-0 down before hitting back to level the game at the end of the 90 minutes – so it was on to extra time, just what both sides would have been looking for on one of the warmest days of the year so far.

But they Ressies came through and so will play in their second cup final of the season – the goalscorers were Duane Anning, Manny and Mike Lewis.

The Reserves also pick up a league point from this game as the fixture was a ‘double up’ of a Mid Wales League (South) fixture and the Builth Spa Cup semi-final.

More details on both games as and when I get them, with detailed reports to follow early next week, although this could be on Tuesday as I am working on Monday.
