A large crowd turned out for the fun day and appeared to enjoy the event

Presteigne St Andrews FC would like to thank a host of people without whom the Fun Day and Beer Festival would not have been the great success that it undoubtedly was.

Many thanks to all of those who worked so hard behind the bar – especially, Kath, Hannah, Della and Dion, with particular thanks to Hannah and Dion who were not supposed to be working, but who took up the challenge when they saw how busy things were.

There may be others who dived behind there to help when things got rushed, so if you did, many thanks to you as well.

The committee would also like to thank all those who took the time and trouble to bring trade stands to the event and we hope it proved a productive day for you as well.

Presteigne St Andrews FC’s youth team managers, coaches and players for getting their teams together for the matches earlier in the afternoon.

The Over-40s of both Presteigne St Andrews FC and Knighton Town FC for turning out and providing an entertaining game of football for the large crowd.

Dave Luke whose work might well have gone unnoticed behind the scenes – Dave did a lot of the technical stuff for the bands and without him – to quote one leading committee member – ‘we could have had a right mess on our hands’.

Our grateful thanks also go to Les and Anne Pitt who sorted out some of the more unsavoury problems of the night when the Football Club’s toilet system failed to cope with the demand – least said, soonest mended, as they day, but many thanks to you both.

Another band whose efforts might well have gone unnoticed was the clear up team for their hard work on Sunday morning.  Apparently the place was spick and span in a relatively short space of time and someone also had the bright idea of getting Cwm Harry recycling to turn up and take away most of the left-over material.

Thanks to all those members of the committee who manned stalls, took money on the gate, rodded the drains (I kid you not..) and did a host of other fairly thankless and yet vital jobs across the weekend.

Finally, Will Edwards, Andy Crowe and Tom Ammonds who took on  much of the organisation of the day – it really was a terrific effort and the feedback from locals and tourists alike was very positive and there were calls for a repeat performance next year.

This is probably not a definitive list, but I am acting on information received as unfortunately I wasn’t able to be there for long over the weekend.  If any committee member can think of anyone whose name should be listed above, then email me and I will gladly add them in.
