Presteigne and Knighton will renew rivalries on Sunday

Presteigne St Andrews head to Knighton Town on Sunday, 23 October for their Radnorshire Cup quarter-final tie knowing they will start the day as clear underdogs.

After a few seasons in which Presteigne have generally held the upper hand over their old rivals from ‘over the hill’, the wheel has turned this season with Knighton going well in the Spar League second division.

Going into this weekend Martin Hall’s side was four points clear at the top of the table, although they had played four more games than second-placed Llanfair United.

Presteigne manager Trevor Gummer knows full well the size of the task facing his side but he is confident they can put up a good showing.

“There will be a number of changes being made to the squad for this game with Tom Ammonds, Danny White and Luke Brimfield missing due to commitments,” he said.

“So, in will come a number of players from the reserve team who will get there first taste of first-team football for Presteigne.

“This can only be a good thing as it gives them a chance and I’m very keen to promote from within to add more competition within our teams,” he added.

The kick off at Bryn-y-Castell on Sunday will be at 2.30pm and it is hoped to have the result up online on Sunday evening with a more detailed report to come on Monday, 24 October.
