New Year's resolution - 'Get a better photo of Skiddy'

Yes, I know what you are thinking, it might be a new year, but the headlines don’t get any better – and you would be right!

Happy New Year to one and all and especially perhaps to Stuart Skidmore and his Reserve-team squad who had better work off the excesses of last night during the course of today as they are due to return to action tomorrow afternoon.

‘Skiddy’ will take his side to Newcastle who are going very well in the Mid Wales League (South) this season in what is a rearranged match.

The Reserves haven’t played since Saturday, 10 December when they were beaten 2-1 at Brecon Town, so the management team was keen to get a game in as otherwise they could easily have gone a month without kicking a ball in anger.

Newcastle are currently fourth in the league table, eight points behind the leaders Hay St Marys, but this is something of a false position in that they have five games in hand over the Forest Road club.

The south Shropshire side has won all four of its home matches so far this season – seems strange they have played only four league games on their own patch, but maybe they have had good runs in the various cup competitions.

They are not too shabby away from home either – they have won seven and lost only two of their nine games.

The kick off at Newcastle will be at 2.00pm on Monday, 2 January and it is hoped to have a match report up online at some stage later that evening.
