First team match report is up online

Presteigne St Andrews FC
Presteigne picked up a welcome win at home to Tregaron

My thanks to Trevor Gummer for supplying me with the relevant information that has gone into creating the match report on the first team’s 2-1 home win over Tregaron Turfs at the weekend.

Trev felt that ultimately his side was good value for the win, but admitted Tregaron were right in the game until the final five minutes when Christian Roberts netted what proved to be the winner.

He was also fearful his side might come to rue the host of chances that went begging in the second half of a game that they could have won more easily.

But a win is a win, and it lifted Presteigne St Andrews a place in the league table above Tregaron Turfs and further away from the bottom two who were both beaten at the weekend.

Basement side Meifod went down 3-0 at Llandrindod Wells, while Bont were beaten 7-1 at home by Four Crosses, although both clubs have a number of games in hand over Presteigne, so Trevor and his squad will be well aware there is no room for any complacency.

But hopefully this will prove a turning point, although Saturday’s trip to Four Crosses promises to be a tough test.

The kick off in that one will be at 2.00pm and it is hoped to have a preview up online later in the week.
