Presteigne St Andrews FC’s senior teams will be in action across the weekend with the first team playing at home on Saturday, 10 March and then the Reserves in cup semi-final action on Sunday, 11 March.
The first team have a game that, if it isn’t a ‘must win’, then it is surely a ‘must not lose’ at home to a Bont side that is only one place off the foot of the Spar Mid Wales League, second division table.
But this could be seen as something of a false position as, while Bont are 11 points worse off than Trevor Gummer’s side in the table, they do have six games in hand over them.
The visitors recorded what was only their second league win of the season last weekend when they came away from Llanfyllin Town with a surprise, but extremely creditable 4-2 win.
Bont’s only other victory in the league this season came on Saturday, 1 October when they were 1-0 winners over Presteigne up at their place.
Alan Stocker should be available for selection for this one after missing last weekend’s match due to work commitments while new signing Gwyn Jones is expected to take his place in the squad.
But Trevor reports injury concerns over Danny Evans, Tom Hooper and Mark Weiland, all of whom have been carrying knocks.
The kick off at Llanandras Park will be at 1.30pm and admission prices for the game will be £2.50 for adults, £1.50 for senior citizens and £1.00 for youngsters under the age of 16.
The Reserves have no league game this weekend, but they will head to Radnor Valley on Sunday, 11 March where they will take on the home side in the semi-final of the Radnor Valley Cup.
Manager Stuart Skidmore admits his options for this one are limited as anyone who has played senior football is ineligible for this cup.
So, any member of his squad who has turned out for the first team at any stage of this season will not be allowed to play in this one, but, despite this, ‘Skiddy’ is confident he can put out a competitive side.
