You are reminded, nay, cordially invited to Presteigne St Andrews FC’s annual Maundy Thursday quiz that will be taking place this coming Thursday, 5 April at the Football Club.
We are after teams of four to take part in what is always a fun night out – it will cost you a mere £2.00 per head to showcase your intellectual genius to those assembled, or just have a bit of a laugh if the intellectual thing is a bit beyond you.
Now, normally Norton United win this at a canter but, in a plan ‘so cunning you could pin a tail on it and call it a weasel’ [Edmund Blackadder], we have managed to break up this Champions League-winning quiz team.
Dot Griffiths is normally one of that quartet that has a combined IQ that is pretty much on a par with the levels of Greek national debt, but Dot has agreed to become ‘poacher turned gamekeeper’ this year as she will be question master.
Before anyone in the ‘PC brigade’ starts up, in my view, there is no such thing as a Question Mistress – and I am sure Dot would agree….

It is all due to get underway at 8.00pm, but drift down there any time after 7.00pm as the bar will be open and so there will be the opportunity to add a little alcoholic WD 40 to the grey matter before the questions get underway.
It is always a great night out and a chance to have all three of your team-mates say: ‘How the hell did you know that?’ at various stages of the evening when you stun them by your in depth knowledge of quantum physics or, on the other hand, the Teletubbies….
