‘Your starter for ten…’

Presteigne St Andrews FCYes, Thursday, 5 April is Quiz Night at Presteigne St Andrews FC where the greatest brains in the town and, to be frank,  a few of the not-so-greatest, will do battle in the annual Maundy Thursday Quiz.

Dot Griffiths will be firing the questions and it’s to be hoped as many teams as possible will make the effort to get there – I already know of some people coming from far-flung parts of the empire (well, Borth..) and other little-known areas of civilised world – like Knighton.

Norton United (or, as they are now generally known: ‘Norton United.. Booo!’ will again be the team to beat, but whatever happens, it is generally a great night and the bar will be open for your delectation and delight.

So, get yourself down to Llanandras Park for 7.30pm as things are due to get underway at 8.00pm – I am sure there will be only one rule, and that will be the one that says whatever Dot has written down as the answer will be the answer.

Last night marked the start of a busy weekend for the club with the first-team game against Llandrindod Wells – tonight is the quiz, then on Saturday ‘Rod Stewart’ will be playing the clubhouse.

All this, and then to round off the weekend we shall have the Radnorshire Cup Final on Monday afternoon – so, never a dull moment down at Llanandras Park this Easter…
