Presteigne St Andrews FC regret to announce that this afternoon’s scheduled Otway Cup semi-final tie between Newbridge and Llandrindod Wells has been called off.
Newbridge FC informed the cup secretary Tom Edwards this morning that they were unable to raise a side for the match and so clearly we were left with no choice other than to call off the fixture.
Presteigne St Andrews FC apologises to those spectators who were planning on spending their Sunday afternoon at Llanandras Park, and also to Llandrindod Wells FC, but we trust you appreciate that this was one of those situations that was beyond our control.
While it is yet to be officially confirmed, I can only imagine that this will mean Llandrindod Wells will receive a walkover and so will now take on Knighton Town in the final on Sunday, 29 April at Llanandras Park.
Meanwhile, Presteigne St Andrews’ first-team rounded off its home programme in a disappointing manner yesterday when we were thumped 7-0 by visiting Llanfair United.
A more detailed report will appear at some stage on the website, but it is fair to say the first-half dismissal of Mark Weiland didn’t help our cause against a Llanfair side that was good value for its win and which still harbours ambitions of promotion this season.
