Presteigne Reserves will round off their Mid Wales League (South) league programme with a home game against Knighton Town Reserves.

This game has been brought forward to Friday, 1 May when the kick off will be at 7.00pm.

Mark Weiland’s side will head into this match in good form – in fact, ‘Weedo’ will be disappointed the season is drawing to a close as they have hit a purple patch in recent weeks.

With three straight wins behind them, they will be confident of giving Knighton Reserves a good game in what should be an entertaining derby match.

Among the more encouraging aspects of the season so far has been the emergence of some of the younger players who have broken through from the Under 17s into the Reserves and – in some cases – the first team.

No doubt there will be another chance for some of these younger players to again showcase their skills in this one and they’ll be looking to end on a high note.

Knighton Town Reserves have had a very encouraging season and can still finish runners-up to Radnor Valley in the final table.

But, to do that, they need a win at Llanandras Park in this one and then probably victory over Newcastle in a home match that will have to be rearranged after it was postponed last Saturday afternoon.

But Knighton Town Reserves’ cause could be helped if Brecon Northcote could do them a favour on Saturday by denying second-placed Rhayader Town Reserves victory in their final game of the season.

So, there is plenty riding on Friday night’s match at Llanandras Park and – with the derby element as well – hopefully there will be a large crowd to watch it.

A reminder – the kick off for this one will be at the earlier time of 7.00pm
