Presteigne Reserves’ scheduled Mid Wales League (South) game against Builth Wells Reserves on Wednesday, 1 February will be subject to a pitch inspection.

The more observant among us have probably noticed that the recent rain has ‘laid the dust’ as they say up Presteigne-way and there is the promise of much more of the soft refreshing to come overnight.

Club vice-chairman Tom Ammonds tells me the plan is to take a look at Llanandras Park early on Wednesday afternoon.

Should the game go ahead, the Reserves will be looking to build on last weekend’s fine 3-0 win at Penybont Reserves that lifted them to fourth place in the league table.

Builth Wells Reserves are only a point and two places behind Dale Tomkins’ side in the table in what is becoming one of the most open Mid Wales League (South) title races for years.

Only eight points cover the top eight clubs in the table with Hay St Mary’s Reserves possibly being the side to watch.

They might be down in fifth place, but they have three games in hand over most of the sides in and around them.

Assuming the home game with Builth Wells does go ahead, the kick off will be at 7.30pm but please check back here and on the club’s twitter account for updates on Wednesday, 1 February.
