Knighton Town will take on Llandrindod Wells in the Otway semi-final on Sunday

Presteigne St Andrews FC will make the short trip to old rivals Knighton Town on Saturday, 27 April looking to build on their recent encouraging form.

Danny Williams’ side was good value for its 4-2 win at Kerry last time out and know a win at Bryn-y-Castell in this one would take them level on points with the Robins.

But they will now this is likely to be a tough test due to a number of reasons – the derby element will be one, while Presteigne’s recent record against Knighton doesn’t stand up to too much scrutiny.

The kick off at Knighton will be at 2.30pm and it’s hoped a sizeable following of Presteigne fans will brave the border controls at Norton to make the short trip ‘over the hill’.

Meanwhile, the Reserves will have home advantage for their game against Rhayader Town Reserves when they will look to bounce back from the disappointment of the mid-week Alfred Sparey Cup exit against Brecon Town.

Rhayader’s second string have been among the stronger sides in the Mid Wales League (South) in recent seasons and they are still in the title race this season.

They are currently in third place in the table, six points off the pace, but with games in hand over both Penybont and Builth Wells Reserves who are above them.

The admission prices will be the usual £2.00 for adults and £1.00 for senior citizens and youngsters under the age of 16, while the kick off will be at 2.30pm.

Then, on Sunday, it will be Otway Cup semi-final action at Llanandras Park in which Knighton Town and Llandrindod Wells Town will take each other on in a 2.30pm kick off.

Admission prices for this one will be as for a first-team game – so, £2.50 for adults, £1.50 for senior citizens and £1.00 for youngsters under the age of 16.

So, plenty of local football either at Llanandras Park or within striking distance of it this weekend – so, get out and support your team!
