Presteigne St Andrews FC produced a stirring second-half comeback to record a derby-day win over old rivals Knighton Town at Bryn-y-Castell.

If we are being honest, things were not looking too flash for Presteigne at half-time in this one as Danny Williams’ side trailed 2-0 and the long wait for a win over Knighton looked as though it would have to wait a while longer.

But the team showed real character in that second period to hit back for the win, courtesy of goals from Frankie Beki, who scored two, and Ieuan Crowe wrapped up the win.

Apparently, the second Presteigne goal would have graced any game – described to me as ‘a screamer’ – I believe this was Ieuan Crowe’s effort, but stand to be corrected on that.

It wasn’t such a good day for the Reserves in their Mid Wales League (South) match against Rhayader Town Reserves at Llanandras Park.

While Mark Weiland’s side was missing a few players, this was to take nothing away from Rhayader’s second string side who are still in with a fighting chance of taking the title.

Rhayader were good value for their 4-0 win in this one – a result that clearly will keep them very much in the title race as we head into the sharp end of the season.
