The Under 18s are due to host Ludlow Town at Llanandras Park

Presteigne St Andrews FC’s Under 18s are due to return to action on Thursday, 24 October when they will take on Ludlow Town at Llanandras Park.

I say ‘due’ because I am told the playing surface at Llanandras Park is very wet – hardly surprising given the amount of rain we have had in the past few days, so the fixture will be dependent on a pitch inspection on Thursday.

This match will be a first-round tie in the HFA Giantkillers Cup and, assuming it does go ahead, Roy Simcock’s side will be keen to progress in this competition.

In fact, they will be just keen to get back into competitive action at all as it has been a long time since they kicked a competitive ball in anger.

The last time the Under 18s played a competitive game together was on Monday, 16 September when they were beaten 4-2 in a HFA Floodlit Youth League match at Westfields.

Of course, the vast majority of the squad play regularly for other sides in school, college or league football, so it is not as though they have been kicking their heels in the interim.

The Giantkillers Cup match against Ludlow Town is due to kick off at 7.30pm and the admission charges will be the usual £2.00 for adults and £1.00 for senior citizens and youngsters under the age of 16.

We will post an update on the pitch inspection as soon as those details become available on Thursday.
