Presteigne St Andrews FC’s scheduled HFA Giantkillers Cup first-round match against Ludlow Town, which was due to be played on Thursday, 24 October, has been postponed.
As mentioned in the preview of the game, there was always a danger this might be the case due to all the heavy rain of the past few days.
Groundsman Tracy Hammond and Under 18s’ manager Roy Simcock ventured down to Llanandras Park this afternoon and the decision was a straightforward one.
There was still waterlogging on parts of the playing surface and so the decision was taken to call off the match.
It’s frustrating for the Under 18s who have been without a game for over a month, but Roy was apparently in full agreement there was no way the match could go ahead this evening.
As soon as we have a new date for the fixture we will post it on the site but at least there should be little trouble in rearranging the game as there are so few league matches this season.
