Presteigne Reserves rounded off their Mid Wales League (South) season with a comprehensive 5-1 home win over Bronllys at Llanandras Park on Saturday, 3 May.

Player-manager Mark Weiland had the Ressies on their way in this one, while Callum Matthews continued his excellent recent form in front of goal by helping himself to a brace.

It could have been even better for Callum, but he was to have two further ‘goals’ disallowed.

Bronllys then got in on the act when they scored before the interval, but the Reserves still headed for the dressing rooms 3-1 to the good.

Gareth Bull seems to have taken the step up to the Reserves in his stride and he underlined this with a second-half strike while Jon Price also found the target as ‘Weedo’s’ side finished the league season in style.

A reminder there is football at Stadio Llanandras on Sunday, 4 May when Hay St Marys and Rhosgoch Rangers will meet in the Otway Cup final, sponsored by KC Electrical Services.

This should be an entertaining game and, with the weather seemingly set fair, it’s to be hoped there will be a good turn out for this final.

Admission to the final will be as for a first-team game – £2.50 for adults, £1.50 for senior citizens and youngsters under the age of 16.
